Kia’s Chinese Design Team Designs An Off-road Ready EV5 Weekender Concept
SAUDI ARABIA: Kia has revealed a brand new concept for the EV5 model, known as the EV5 Weekender, at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China. The concept model was designed by Kia’s Chinese design team, and it shows the SUV in an off-road-ready avatar.

The concept showcases a fitted and lifted suspension, which also comes with aggressive mud-terrain tyres and 20-inch wide wheels. The concept also gets new bumpers and side sills along with chunky roof racks.

Inside the cabin, the interiors have been redesigned with a makeover. The dashboard and the centre console have been redesigned with bright yellow highlights. The cabin also gets elements made from bioplastics and supports a range of clip-on accessories. The three-screen dash display of the production EV5 has been upgraded with one massive screen that has shifted towards the front passenger. The driver still gets a minimalistic driver display.

The Weekender, known as WKNDR from Kia, is now a range of four concepts released so far. In the lineup, it sits above the X-Pro tier of Kia products, including the Tasman, Sportage, and Telluride. Though the future and production confirmation of the EV5 Weekender have not been shared by Kia yet, it is expected that the EV5 Weekender may reach production.
There is no official information regarding the performance features and powertrain of the Kia EV5 Weekender concept, but the model is believed to be powered by a version of the dual-motor all-wheel drive that’s offered in the EV5 GT-Line. The EV5 is already among the lucrative EV offerings from Kia, and the off-road-focused version has the potential to make the car even more popular in the Kingdom.
