The smallest and most affordable sedan from Suzuki worldwide, the Dzire, currently in its fourth generation, is a compact sedan which shares its mechanical underpinnings and many other components with the Swift hatchback. Positioned below the Ciaz, the Suzuki Dzire is available in the Saudi Arabian car market in two variants – GL and GLX, with colour options including Alluring Blue, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Bluish Black, Gallant Red, Magma Grey, and Nutmeg Brown.

Exterior

With a comprehensive upgrade to its design language, the Suzuki Dzire has taken a significant leap forward in terms of smart road presence and great visual appeal. Despite compact dimensions, the Suzuki Dzire manages to look upmarket and proportionate – the challenges usually faced by entry-level compact cars.

The front profile of the Suzuki Dzire now looks very sleek and modern, thanks to the wide, horizontally-laid all-LED headlamps, which also come integrated with LED DRL strips at the bottom of their housings. The grille also looks bold with its hexagonal design, having a thin strip of chrome in its upper part for an added premium appeal. The Dzire also gets tiny fog lamps placed within small C-shaped black housings on the corners of the front bumper.

The Dzire looks very thoughtfully designed and well-proportionate from the side, with the sedan having smooth and curved contours over the front and rear wheel arches. While the GL variant has black alloy wheels, the GLX variant has a more premium-looking set of diamond-cut alloy wheels.

More chrome can be seen over the window waistline and boot lid of the Dzire, with the latter running in between the tail lamps of the sedan. This brings us to the rear profile of the Dzire, which also manages to look contemporary with the newly designed set of smoked tail lamps which get Y-themed LED inserts.

Interior

Like the exterior, the interior layout of the new fourth-generation Suzuki Dzire is also at a whole new level in the way it looks. The Dzire shares many of its components with the Swift hatchback, including the flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel, instrument console with chrome-ringed analogue dials and a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. However, what sets the Dzire apart from the Swift is its dual-tone black and beige theme for the cabin.

The Suzuki Dzire comes with a 7-inch screen in GL and a 9-inch screen in GLX variants for the touchscreen infotainment system. The centre console here has two separate hexagonal housings for the AC vents and the panel for the climate control system placed one above the other. The textured finish over the dashboard’s upper layer and door panels is also a nice touch.

In this fourth-generation avatar, the Dzire has become more feature-rich than ever before. Besides the features mentioned above, the new Dzire also gets rear AC vents, cruise control, a push start-stop button, rear seat armrest with cup holders, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, driver seat height adjustment, 6-speaker audio system and a wireless charger.

Engine and performance

The fourth-generation Suzuki Dzire is the first one in its lineage to get a three-cylinder petrol engine. Shared with the Swift, the new-generation 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine of the Dzire produces a maximum power output of 81.5 PS and a maximum torque output of 111.7 Nm.

Compared to the previous generation Dzire, this new generation model loses out on some power, but it compensates for that with its impressive fuel efficiency of 23.8 kmpl. A CVT is the standard choice of transmission in both variants of Dzire.

Comfort and suspension

Sharing its suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear with the Swift, the Suzuki Dzire has a softer setup in comparison to its hatchback sibling, which makes its ride quality more comfortable. There are no drive modes on offer in the Dzire, though. The 15-inch tyres also contribute to the comfort-oriented setup.

Safety and braking

The Suzuki Dzire ticks all the basics one expects from the safety equipment of an entry-level sedan of its class, with the list of safety features including six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors and reverse camera.

Conclusion

In this fourth-generation version, the Suzuki Dzire has become much more sophisticated in its appeal, both inside and outside, while also retaining its traditional attributes of offering impressive fuel efficiency, a spacious cabin and comfortable ride quality.
