Lucid Announces Partnership With NVIDIA: The Collaboration Aims To Develop EVs With Level 4 Autonomous Driving Capabilities
SAUDI ARABIA: Lucid has announced a significant strategic partnership with NVIDIA to develop an electric vehicle that will feature Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities. The partnership will see a collaboration of NVIDIA’s top-of-the-line artificial intelligence technology and Lucid’s engineering expertise. The partnership also notes that future Lucid cars will be built on NVIDIA’s DRIVE AV platform, which is developed for advanced autonomous driving features. Additionally, the automaker also aims to utilise NVIDIA’s industrial AI platforms, such as the NVIDIA AI Enterprise and the NVIDIA Omniverse, to optimise and enhance smart manufacturing processes.
A Look Into The Autonomous Driving Capabilities Offered by Lucid

Lucid has aimed to popularise and manufacture EVs with significant autonomous driving capabilities, and they have been offering these systems for quite some time now, since 2021. The first autonomous driving system offered by Lucid was the DreamDrive Pro, offered in the Lucid Air. It allowed automatic lane changing and hands-free driving capabilities.

The current collaboration with NVIDIA promises to bring new developments with their upcoming models being built on the NVIDIA DRIVE AV platform. Initially, it is expected that Lucid will offer L2++ autonomous driving, and over time, with new models like the Lucid Gravity, the brand aims to provide complete Level 4 autonomous driving capability. The final aim is to ensure that all of Lucid’s mid-size models are able to offer complete driverless operation without any manual intervention.
Which Lucid Models Will Receive Updates Following The NVIDIA Partnership Announcement?
The current Lucid flagship, which is the Air model, will receive the L2++ autonomous capabilities with over-the-air updates. This is expected to be the current update until the Lucid Gravity is debuted, which is expected to be released with level 4 autonomous driving systems.
