Peugeot Shares New Concept Preview For The Next-Generation 208 Supermini
SAUDI ARABIA: Peugeot has always been known for developing cars that break the mould in terms of automotive design, and the new 208 Supermini is no different. With gullwing doors and a super angular exterior design, the French automaker is trying to reinvent the wheel, both literally and figuratively.

When you step into the cabin, you will notice an unfamiliar sight, a rectangular steering wheel with four holes in each corner that resembles a video game controller. Now, this is not a video game controller, rather it is the newly designed steering wheel that Peugeot wants to showcase.
The brand has shared details that the new steering wheel will become a “tangible reality” soon with talks of the new steering wheel debuting in a production car by 2027. The steering wheel will also feature a steer by wire setup with no physical connection between the rubber and the wheel (rectangle in this case). The steering wheel will have a 170 degrees rotation maximum on both sides, so it won’t be a complete turn. In comparison, a normal steering wheel can turn from lock to lock in three full rotations with a complete rotation of 1080 degrees.

Considering the turning capabilities of the car is not hampered, the steer by wire technology and the limited turning capacity will lead to the ca being able to make turning easier, even in tight parking areas. At high speeds, users will only need very “small inputs” to adjust the car’s trajectory.
While there’s not much information on how much of the concept will be retained in the next-generation supermini, it can be certainly considered that the brand will ditch the gullwing doors for the production model. Other features like the windscreen that also doubles as a display will also most certainly not be a part of a production car.
