A Porsche-powered Electric Boat Has Set A New Speed Record Of 49 Knots (92 kmph)

SAUDI ARABIA: Frausher, an Austrian boat building company partnered with Porsche the legendary automobile manufacturer to build the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom boat. This electric boat has now set a new speed record at the 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge hitting a top speed of 49.84 knots or 92.3 kmph.

The boat’s powertrain has been developed by Porsche, which is basically a copy of the all-electric powertrain of the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric. The model that was used to achieve this speed record was a completely standard production model, making it a true testament to engineering.

Frauscher Managing Director on The New Speed Record

In a press release, Stefan Frauscher, the managing director of Frauscher Bootswerft, said, “We are very proud that we were able to show the full potential of the Frauscher x Porsche as part of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. This success not only underlines the boat’s technical innovation but also marks an important milestone in the development of electric propulsion solutions in the maritime sector. The combination of Porsche’s drive technology with the boatbuilding know-how of our boatyard has resulted in an electric boat that is incomparable.”

Elite Interest for The eFantom at The 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge

Porsche has announced that Prince Albert II of Monaco has shown interest in the Porsche x Frauscher boat at the event. He was given a tour of the boat with an explanation of its functioning by Frauscher, who was on the sidelines of the event.

Porsche x Frauscher eFantom Highlights

The boat, which is an electric day cruiser boat, is 8,670 mm in length with a width of 2,490 mm. The boat has a closed foredeck; however, it is also offered as a centre helm model. The difference being, a closed foredeck has a cabin under the foredeck, and a centre helm boat offers seating and lounging areas at the bow of the boat. In car terms, it is the equivalent of a convertible and coupe models. The boat is manufactured in Austria at the Frauscher boatyard in Ohlsdorf, Upper Austria.
