Hongqi Introduces New Luxury EVs With Better Driving Range And Features, Along With A PHEV Preview

SAUDI ARABIA: Hongqi is the oldest passenger car brand of China, known for its luxury vehicles. To remain in line with the times, the brand has revamped its luxury EV lineup and shared a preview of a new plug-in hybrid SUV. This comes ahead of the brand’s global push to expand out of China with its luxury vehicles. 

There is a growing demand for Hongqi cars in the KSA, and to meet said demand and expand further, the brand has updated two of its luxury EVs. The flagship Hongqi SUV, called the E-HS9, has received more range as part of its upgrades as well as additional luxury features inside the car. The E-QM5, which is more of a daily commute car from the brand’s lineup, has also received additional range as a part of the upgrades.

Hongqi E-HS9: Key Upgrades

The flagship Hongqi SUVs will receive a higher range of 515 km per charge, which is an increase from 440 km. The car will also receive 22-inch wheels as standard, and the interiors will feature high-quality Nappa leather and multi-zone climate control. The car will also feature a 16-speaker BOSE audio system. Lastly, the dual-motor setup of this car will offer all-wheel drive and produce a max of 544 hp.

Hongqi E-QM5: Key Upgrades

The main upgrades to this model revolve around its range and improvements to its fast charging capabilities. The upgraded E-QM5 will now feature a range of up to 610 km per charge. This is made possible by a larger 72 kWh LFP battery pack. In terms of fast charging, the car charges from 30% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. On the inside, this model gets ventilated seats, cruise control, and features like a 10-inch infotainment system.

Hongqi HS3 PHEV Highlights

The HS3 PHEV has only been previewed so far as a plug-in hybrid built for long journeys. The car will feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with a 168 kW electric motor, which generates a total of 565 Nm of torque. The proposed model is also expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.6 seconds. The car will also feature a pure electric range of 115 km, which extends the car’s total mileage to over 1,400 km, with a fast charging capability that can charge from 10% to 80% in just 19 minutes.
