Acura To End Production For The RDX, However A Hybrid Replacement Is Coming Soon
SAUDI ARABIA: Acura’s RDX is a popular model in the brand’s lineup. The luxury SUV, however, is ending its production run as per the brand as no model has been planned for 2027. A hybrid model of the car will replace the current generation of the RDX, which is expected to be released in a few years. The RDX had an impressive production of 19 years, in some parts of the world.

The space left by the RDX in the meanwhile is going to be filled by other cars from the Acura lineup, including the subcompact ADX, the three-row MDX, and the upcoming RSX EV. Acura is excited for the launch of the RSX EV, which the brand said will, “give buyers another option” in place of the RDX.
As per the successor to the RDX, Acura has announced that it will take, “a couple of years” for it to materialise. However, when the new model comes, it will be the fourth generation of the RDX, and it will utilise a two-motor hybrid system that’s similar to the one used in the MDX model. Acura has also shared a brief teaser showcasing the design inspiration for the new model.

As the RDX ends its almost two decade production run, it can be comfortably said, that the discontinuation is not a surprise. The age was clearly visible with the RDX and over time, a reboot became more crucial than ever before. So, announcement of a hybrid replacement is perhaps one of the best things that could have happened for the model.
