Saudi Sports Car Owners Can Now Get Small License Plates Via Absher

SAUDI ARABIA: Sports cars and high-performance luxury cars generally require body modifications to fit the standard number plates issued by the Saudi General Traffic Department. To help out luxury car owners with unique sports car builds, the General Traffic Department of KSA has offered smaller license plates. 

 

The entire application process is online and can be completed by car owners through the Absher platform. However, car owners will need to upload proof that their cars are indeed luxury or high-end performance sports cars to apply for the new, smaller license plates.

 

Based on the car’s model and make, owners will be able to order specially sized license plates that can fit their cars. The new license plates are expected to meet all legal license plate requirements, and they’ll feature English letters only for global consistency.

 

It is important to note that the new, smaller license plates will also include the same official number system and existing registration number for already registered cars.  The Saudi government has created a growing focus on smart government services, and the online application for small license plates through the Absher platform is in line with their new approach.

 

How To Apply For Smaller License Plates via The Absher Platform

The process is entirely online, and car owners can complete it from the comfort of their home without going for any in-person visits.

 

Step 1: Open the Absher platform and login using your official credentials

 

Step 2: Click on the “My Services” option

 

Step 3: Select the “Traffic” option and navigate to the “Issuing a Miniature License Plate” option.

 

Step 4: Upload supporting documents that prove your vehicle is a luxury car or high-performance sports car.

 

Step 5: Based on the size and type of your car, you’ll need to pay a fee. It can range between 500 to 800 SAR.

 

Step 6: Once you pay the fee, your application will be submitted, and you’ll need to wait for official approval.

 

Step 7: Once the request is approved, you can collect the new license plate from your assigned traffic department.
