Exterior
The MG 7 adopts a sleek, fastback profile. It gets a long, sculpted roofline with dual waistlines. The aggressive triangular headlights wrap into the sculpted corner housings. The car gets all-around LED lighting. A large mesh or chrome-slatted grille sits low and wide. It&rsquo;s paired with pronounced air-intakes and front lip. The steeply sloped bonnet gets sharp character lines. The frameless doors add a premium coupe-like accent. The car runs on large 19-inch alloy wheels with sporty red brake callipers in the higher trims. The wheels get intricate dense-spoke design. The strong fender arches and flowing sculpted bodylines create a sense of motion. Other visual accents include frameless windows, chrome grille surrounds, and smoked-through taillights. The rear-end gets a sleek, full-width taillight bar. There&rsquo;s also an adaptive, three-stage electric tail wing/spoiler. A quad-exhaust setup paired with a blackened diffuser underscores the car&rsquo;s sporty ambitions.
Interior
The MG 7 gets premium faux leather upholstery, with black, dark green, and burgundy color options, depending on the trim level. The seats have a diamond-quilted pattern on higher variants. Some models get Alcantara inserts on the seats and door pads. The front seats are well-bolstered with integrated headrests. Power adjustability (with memory function for the driver), lumbar support, and heated/ventilated options are available on higher trims. Rear seating is spacious for two adults, with good legroom and under-thigh support. The middle seat is usable but more suited for short trips. Rear passengers also benefit from a fold-down armrest, rear air-conditioning vents, USB charging ports, and optional sunshades. Other features include dual-zone automatic climate control with PM2.5 air filtration, panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, power-operated rear sunshade, ambient lighting with music sync mode, soft-close doors, keyless entry and push-button start, and powered tailgate. Some of these features are available only in higher trims. The MG 7 gets a 33-inch curved display panel, integrating both the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. It&rsquo;s connected to a multi-speaker audio system. The graphics are crisp, and the interface is intuitive.
Engine and performance
The MG 7 delivers striking performance with both its turbocharged options. The 2.0-liter engine produces 261PS/405Nm. Paired with a smooth nine-speed automatic, it offers calm take-offs with a Sport mode that sharpens throttle response, while retaining high-speed stability firm yet comfortable. The 1.5-liter version still delivers a capable 188PS/300 Nm via a seven-speed dual-clutch. Both engines are front-wheel drive, efficient, and well-suited on highways.
Comfort and suspension
The MG 7 is mounted on MacPherson struts with coil springs in the front, and an independent multi-link setup at the back. The car gets electronically adjustable mCDC adaptive damping on higher trims that modifies stiffness dynamically. The suspension tuning is comfort-biased without excessive softness, soaking potholes well while retaining grip on curves. The adaptive suspension ensures ride quality stays composed at highway speeds. The multi-link rear suspension does its job, but may throw up occasional bounces over sharp potholes, not severe, but noticeable. Body roll remains controlled even with softer settings, courtesy the chassis and adaptive damping. While headroom and legroom is adequate, the sloping fastback roof can feel a bit snug for taller passengers&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Braking and safety&nbsp;
Higher versions of the MG 7 offers a Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving suite. It includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane keep assist, intelligent speed assist and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection. A surround-view camera setup provides a bird&rsquo;s eye view of the vehicle&rsquo;s surroundings, practically eliminating all blind spots. Ultrasonic sensors are integrated into the front and rear bumper for audible proximity warnings and visual cues. The car also gets an optional navigation system.&nbsp;
