2027 Kia Niro Facelift Announced: First Changes To The Affordable EV Since 2023 Model Year

SAUDI ARABIA: The Kia Niro is an affordable EV in the Kia lineup, and it's getting a facelift. The updated crossover is currently available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The full-EV variant is also available, and it was revealed just a few days ago in South Korea. The mild facelift of the Kia Niro was overdue, as the car was available with almost no changes since its inception in 2023. As a facelift, the model is not expected to get any performance upgrades; however, the technical specifications are still due to be released in March, so there may be some surprises there.

The new design of the Kia Niro is in line with the brand’s “Opposites United” design language. The same design language has been used for all other Kia EVs. This new design language usage has given the Kia Niro a revamped front fascia as well as smoked taillamps in the back. Apart from that, the accent-coloured C-pillar is now the same colour as the rest of the body. In other changes, the interiors have seen some upgrades with a new 12.3-inch dual-screen setup. The infotainment system is running Hyundai’s new infotainment software. The screen has altered the dashboard shape, and there’s also a new steering wheel inside. 

The cabin also retains physical buttons and has stated that they’re not in a hurry to replace buttons just yet. In fact, the interior design chief of Kia, Jochen Paesen, said, “There are certain functions you need to find straight away, and you don't want to mess up, so we keep them physical.” The updated Kia Niro is expected to be available in 2027.
