SAUDI ARABIA: There’s a new fastest car in the world now, and it's from the Chinese EV manufacturer BYD. The BYD Yangwang U9 Track Edition was crowned the fastest production electric car in the world, and now the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme has been crowned the ‘fastest car on the planet.’

The U9 Xtreme reached a top speed of 496 kmph or 308 mph, surpassing previous records held by any production car ever in the history of automobiles. The U9 Xtreme also completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in just 6 minutes 59 seconds, placing it among the fastest production cars to ever complete this lap.

The U9 Xtreme is a highly limited production car, with the company announcing that there will only be 30 units ever made of this variant. The car is powered by a quad-motor setup with a total output of 2,200 kW. It uses a 1,200-volt electrical architecture along with an 80 kWh BYD Blade battery.
