Great Wall Motor Rolls Out Upgraded Tank 400 Plug-in Hybrid SUV In China
SAUDI ARABIA: Great Wall Motor, or GWM, has introduced its new and upgraded Tank 400 in the Chinese market. This is GWM’s mid-range SUV that sits perfectly between the Tank 300 and Tank 500. The new model comes with a refreshed design that features a powerful road presence, a revamped drivetrain setup, and exciting cabin tech to make the Tank 400 stand out among the competition.
The sizeable frame of the Tank 400 is highlighted by its wheelbase spanning 2,850 mm. The car also has a length of 4,964 mm, a width of 19,70 mm, and a height of 1,905 mm. The car has a solid ground clearance of 224 mm, which is great for off-roading and even driving over water.
GWM Tank 400 Design Highlights
The design of the Tank 400 is highlighted by its rugged design and off-road-focused appearance. The car has chunky wheel arches and large bumpers with aggressive design elements. The car is also square-ish, which makes for solid road presence and a Jeep-style design. However, the cabin is still spacious and appropriate for adult occupants without any problems. Solidifying the Jeep-style design even more is the placement of the spare tyre on the tailgate of the car.
GWM Tank 400 Engine & Performance
The Tank 400 comes in two plug-in hybrid variants with different performance figures. The two variants are named Hi4-Z and Hi4-T, respectively. The Hi4-Z has a 2.0T engine that generates 248 hp at max. It is paired with dual P2 and P4 electric motors, generating an additional 288 hp. The Hi4-Z has a 3-speed DHT transmission with an all-electric range of up to 200 km. The car also has a ternary lithium battery pack of 59.05 kWh.
The Hi4-T variant has a similar 2.0T engine that also generates 248 hp at max. However, this variant is only paired with a single electric motor that pumps out an additional 161 hp. The Hi4-T comes with a 37.1 kWh ternary lithium battery pack and an electric range of up to 105 km.
