Honda’s New Next-Generation 2027 HR-V Spied Testing
SAUDI ARABIA: The HR-V from Honda is due for its fourth-generation to be launched in 2027. The model was seen testing in Japan, and though camouflaged, this is the first look at the new model from Honda.
The rear image of the car doesn’t showcase a lot of detail, but here’s what we know now:
-
The rear horizontal light bar is going away; there will be a squarer and simpler lighting design in the back with vertical lighting signatures at each side of the tailgate.
-
The raked rear window that’s available in the current model is going to stay.
-
The curved body edges and corners of the vehicle are going away, the model will get flatter body surfacing with sharp creases where the body sides meet the tail-lights.
-
Speculations exist that some of the rear design inspiration has been taken from the Honda Zero EV SUV and the Zero Alpha SUV; however, the upright rear windscreen of these two models has not carried over to the HR-V 4th gen.
-
There’s a visible exhaust pipe on the spied photograph, which indicates that the model may retain a petrol engine. This comes on the heels of the decision from Honda to move global focus away from EVs and instead on hybrids as the backbone of the company’s future.
-
Lastly, the rear wiper has been tucked beneath the spoiler at the top of the rear glass instead of the base of the windscreen.

In more updates regarding the new Honda HR-V, it is expected to get the dual-motor hybrid powertrain from Honda and may even lose its non-hybrid four-cylinder engine. The addition of the hybrid powertrain from Honda will provide Honda S+ Shift technology to the new HR-V. It has already found its place on models like the Honda Prelude hybrid.
