Mazda Announces Discontinuation Of The CX-3 SUV
SAUDI ARABIA: The Japanese automaker Mazda has announced that the CX-3 SUV is going to be discontinued in Japan. A new successor model is expected to be revealed in 2027, but as it stands right now, no CX-3 SUV in 2026. The availability of the CX-3 in other countries apart from Japan depends on where the models are imported from. Currently, three countries manufacture the CX-3: Japan, Thailand, and Mexico.

Production of the model for the Japanese market is stopping at the end of February 2026. However, the model may still remain in production in Japan, Thailand, and Mexico. The official Mazda website has a notice stating, “Please note that orders will be closed once the maximum number of orders is reached.” So, while the model may not be available in Japan anymore, global demand may keep the car in production until the replacement is ready for its debut.

The Mazda CX-3 is among the top-selling cars from the brand. About the discontinuation, a brand spokesperson said, “Going forward, Mazda will continue to optimise its product line-up and production locations based on market demand and regulatory requirements in each global market.”
As mentioned by the brand, the discontinuation is to optimise the lineup and not due to failing sales. There is also a rumour that the Mazda Vision X-Compact concept car that was showcased at the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show is going to be used as a new-generation Mazda 2 and CX-3 hybrid. Not hybrid as in a PHEV, but hybrid as in a model that could be a combination of the two models in question.
So, if you want to get a CX-3 and don’t want to wait till the end of 2027, get one now or forever hold your peace. However, considering that the Mazda 2 and the CX-3 are both compact and target a similar audience group, their combination could be the best of both worlds and an objectively better purchase.
