Sony & Honda Are Collaborating on A New SUV Details Inside
SAUDI ARABIA: Sony and Honda, the two Japanese giants, have a collaboration known as the Sony Honda Mobility project. This joint venture plans to develop EVs together, and their first model now has a prototype. The SUV known currently as the Afeela has been unveiled as the first concept vehicle of 2026, with the model expected to be ready for production by 2028. The Afeela and the Sony Honda collaboration aims to create high-end EVs, despite the market for high-end EVs slowing down over the last one or two years.

The Afeela is not alone as an SUV; the model also has a sedan known as the Afeela 1 sedan, and it is expected to start deliveries by late 2026. The Afeela SUV was showcased as a prototype at the CES Las Vegas in 2026. The design of the Afeela SUV is not much like a standard SUV; in fact, it looks more like a high-riding sedan. The overall design is smooth and has a good road presence, and the car’s silhouette does somewhat resemble the 2018 Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury.

With flush door handles, a smooth design that embraces minimalism, and smooth surfaces across the body, the design is easy on the eyes and certainly a good addition in the global EV space. In terms of dimensions, the model is 4,985 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 3,030 mm. The car gets 20-inch wheels and it is going to weigh 2,480 kgs. The SUV will most probably get a global launch with the Japan launch confirmed for 2027 before a global rollout in 2028. The Sony Honda Mobility project is going to be an exciting new brand to look out for considering their new launches and both brand’s international standing as stalwarts in their respective industries.
