Toyota Plans To Build 2 New American-Made EVs Based On The Land Cruiser And RAV4, Claims Reuters Reports

SAUDI ARABIA: The electric Land Cruiser has been teased since 2023; however, the brand has never actually shared any updates regarding when they’re actually going to produce and release one of them. However, reports from Reuters suggest that Toyota may be planning on bringing these new SUVs to life for the American market. 

This report comes after Japan’s Nikkei suggested that Toyota and Lexus both plan on shuffling the American production in response to the tariffs imposed by the US government. Nikkei’s report was confirmed by Toyota to Reuters, where the brand confirmed that they’re working on two different three-row electric SUVs at their Kentucky plant. It was also directly mentioned in the Reuters report that the planned cars, “will be based on the RAV4 and the Land Cruiser.” The veracity of these claims can’t be verified, as the information was cited from an anonymous source.

The reports, though unverified, excite Toyota fans because the three-row Land Cruiser EV variant would fit the description of the Land Cruiser SE Concept that was shown off by Toyota in 2023. It had an extra row of seats and adequate cabin space for additional passengers, as well as a more modern-looking design. 

A three-row electric RAV4 doesn’t have any concept at the moment, but it would certainly be a great addition to the brand’s electric car lineup. This is mainly because the RAV4 is currently the third best-selling car in the US. A proper electric offering under the same name would help consumers transition from ICE to EV models much better than the bZ SUV lineup that’s currently available in the US markets.
