Honda Brings Back Its Classic Prelude With A New 2026 Hybrid Model

SAUDI ARABIA: Honda is bringing back its iconic Prelude model, and it will feature the latest technological upgrades. Reintroduced with a hybrid variant, the Prelude will restore the dynamic performance of the previous generation while adding excitement and performance to the vehicle. 

What We Know About The 2026 Honda Prelude So Far?

There are many firsts being introduced with the new 2026 Prelude, which includes a two-motor hybrid powertrain paired with a Civic Type R chassis for the first time. Similarly, the car will also feature a ‘Grand Touring’ driving experience with precise steering feedback and responsive handling, which is an improvement for its segment. 

Lastly, the Prelude will debut the “Honda S+ Shift,” a new drive mode that simulates a performance transmission experience for an improved driving experience. The 2026 Honda Prelude is expected to reach dealerships for sale by late 2025.

When asked about the return of the Prelude, Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, said, “We are thrilled to be bringing back such an iconic nameplate to the Honda lineup. The Prelude's return demonstrates our commitment to exciting, fun-to-drive vehicles and will help to accelerate our hybrid-electric sales in the years ahead.”

The 2026 Honda Prelude is powered by a 2.0-litre direct injection gasoline engine paired with two powerful electric motors and running Atkinson cycle. This setup offers exceptional fuel efficiency and a sporty driving experience with an output of 200 hp. Inside the cabin, the car will have a digital 10.2-inch instrument cluster, a 9-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The car will also have a stock Bose sound system inside the cabin and a suite of ADAS features from the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistive features.
